Question

What could be causing 50-day cycles??

So this started in December (2016), before which, I was like clockwork around the 28 day mark.

For the past 8 months my cycles have become sporadic, with the more recent cycles lasting around 50 days. What I would give for a TTW!

Any ideas what could be causing this?

Docs have checked for PCOS, thyroid abnormalities, smear test etc. I've also had a scan, and everything looked fine. Which is a relief, but fails to answer what on earth is going on.

Seeing as the GP is fully booked for the next month *sigh*, I thought I would see if the wonderful internet could provide some thoughts? (Dangerous I know, I have the pinch of salt ready)

If anyone has any suggestions, a very frazzled woman would love to hear them.

Thanks!

How old are you? I am not a doctor, so this is just a thought, have you considered that you might be starting menopause? Does early menopause run in your family? I'm sure your doctor must have already considered this though.

I use to have a period every three month and couldn't understand why so I did the same as you and got ultrasound, smear, etc. I've done more blood tests for hormone check and thyroid just trying to nail a reason down but hadn't any luck. Still to this day so we're doing more blood wrk to check any and all things including more advanced tests for thyroid then the usual tsh.

My gut says it has to do with my Adrenal glands or thyroid because of all my other symptoms. I recommend reading up as much as you can online and bring up with your doctor some the possible diagnosis you fit in. I found out I was very low in B6&12, serotonin and potassium and certain important amino acids,
I ended up getting off a few medications, lost 25lbs and my periods became regular again with no spotting anymore. I got pregnant soon after starting vitamins & homeopathic hcg, which has no hcg hormone in it, it's just called that but it gave my hormones the little boost it needed to become regular.

Blood work can come back all in normal range but just because it's in normal range doesn't mean that your body is functioning perfect in those ranges. You could be sensitive to the slightest changes and it's possible that it's causing such long cycles.

Best of luck! I hope you find the reason soon. 2ww is hard enough, I can't imagine 3-4wek waits!
