Do you notice any faint line in the negative result? No matter how faint (light) it is, it's still positive! That only indicates that the HCG levels are too low to be detected on the tests. But if there is no lines at all unfortunately that can be an early miscarriage. Best hopes for you!

I have heard of this happening but have no personal experience with it. There can be false negatives but RARELY a false positive. Did you test consecutively? Your urine may have been diluted during your second test, resulting in a negative. But, I have read about 'chemical pregnancies' which is basically a very early miscarriage (hoping that is not your case.) Another thing - NEVER trust blue dye tests. I have received positive results in the past and I have yet to ever be pregnant. Blue dye cannot be trusted! The fact that you are 7 days late is a great sign. Maybe the second test was a false negative! Test again every 3 days until you get a positive or AF shows. Good luck!

Also, all tests are not created equal. Some tests, like First Response, has a sensitivity of 6.3 mIU/m. That's VERY sesnsitive and can detect pregnancy earlier than most. A lot of other tests are 25 mIUs (some are even worse at 100 mIUs) which is typical for most tests but won't pick up the hCG hormones if they are not strong enough!
