Question

I was diagnosed with angina last and am wodering how that will affect my baby should I fall pregnant

I was diagnosed as having angina pectoris last year and have been taking medication for it. I informed my cardiologist about my decision to have another baby and he said I should stop taking the medication he prescribed as soon as I fall pregnant. My family doctor on the other hand thinks it would be a hug risk and I should not do it.

I would like to know how risky it will really be, but I still want another baby cause I only have one child and being a married woman with only one child is going to be really hard living in South Africa. Africans believe that a woman should bare children for their husbands. I decided to carry on with my studies and get my degree after my first child who is now 9 years old. but unfortunatly I now have all sorts of chronic diseases.

U need to ask an OB about this. He would be the one specializing in all things baby, he would be the best person to ask about medications etc., and how that would affect the fetus and urself. There are some cardiac meds that are relatively safe (benefits outweigh the risks). He may just have u go to a lower dose or a diff drug. Speak to the specialists, it's what they do.
Good luck! =))
