Concerns, nerves... Is it normal?
I am 31 years old and had a health scare at the beginning of this year - luckily nothing major, but my doctor did advise my husband and I not to wait forever before we start a family. We both together decided to try to conceive (and I recently stopped taking my birth control pills) because we really do want a family but in a way I am scared that we are financially not ready and of course we are nervous because it being our first time at entering this new phase of life! My husband is really excited but my excitement is mixed with nerves and worries and doubt. Is this normal? It would be so great to hear others' opinions and experiences!

Well isn't your doctor a treat!
My husband and I are trying to conceive #1, We have decided we will only have 1 child because we want to be able to maintain a quality of life, for ourselves and any child we do have. I think it is important to bear in mind a realistic attitude to what can and can't be done. Especially in relation to the expenses of childcare and the knock on effect of careers. We would like a child to enrich our lives, we would like to give a quality of life to any child we have, being pragmatists this is our view. That said having been brought up in a single parent family and knowing those families around me, I don't think there's ever a time where everyone is financially sound all the time, being an adult Is challenging and finances are part and parcel. I think acceptance of your situation is an important part of making family decisions.
