Hcg levels dropped
Hi everyone,
Last week my hcg levels were 85 but this week they have dropped to 55. I am not bleeding only light spotting and brown discharge.
Last month i was pregnant and miscarried at 5 weeks. This time seems to be different but the dates are exactly the same (5 weeks and 0 days).
Because I'm not bleeding is there something i should be doing? Last time i had follow up blood tests and an ultrasound, this time my doctor sent me home, said i was miscarrying and told me rest, with no follow up blood tests and ultrasound.
I'm confused am I having a miscarriage or am i still pregnant?

I'm in the same boat. I had two HCGs showing a rise (not quite doubled, but pretty damn close), then an HCG that dropped. I'm waiting on a follow-up HCG results now to see if they're still going down. My doctor told me I could have three situations - (1) a miscarriage, (2) an ectopic pregnancy (which would cause the HCG numbers to rise slowly, and jump around), or (3) I could still be pregnant and have suffered a "vanishing twin" (which would result in a drop in HCG, then another rise). Of the three, she thinks its a miscarriage, but she's following my HCG just to rule out an ectopic. I'm guessing it's the same for you - the chances of a vanishing twin are slim, the chances of an ectopic are slim, but the chances of a miscarriage are pretty high. Still, there's a chance! If you haven't started bleeding in a week or so I'd say give your doctor a call again and ask for more blood work. I really hope you're the lucky one and still have a baby growing in there! Good luc
