Question

5 Week Ultrasound, Nothing There?

This is my first pregnancy after a miscarriage in December. My doctor has been tracking my HCG and it's been doubling as it should, but I had some spotting so they did an ultrasound and found absolutely nothing. No embryo, no sac, nothing. They did spot a cyst on my ovary, but that's it. So am I pregnant? Is it ectopic? Is it just too damn early to see anything? My doctor will be following my blood levels closely, but as she didn't see anything she doesn't hold out much hope that this pregnancy will stick. She couldn't really tell me what's going on, other than to just wait it out, keep drawing blood, and see what happens. So... anybody experience this? What happens next?

It is very possible that it is to early. You could be earlier in your pregnancy than you think.

Possible that it's just too early to see anything - do you have a tilted uterus? That can make baby harder to see.. Normally if it is ectopic your HCG wont double normally either.. It could be a blighted ovum - sac grows but nothing in side and so it's harder to see it - your HCG can double normally with this too.. but really I hope it's a normal pregnancy and just too early to tell.. <3 big hugs!!

Five weeks is still early to see anything on an ultrasound. I had an ectopic and my levels were low to start and didn't double. So if your numbers are 'healthy' and doubling that's a good sign. I know it's really hard but try not to stress

It depends... did they see a sac or a fetal pole?

Sorry.. I submitted before I was done. 5 weeks is iffy.. Depends on your numbers . How is your lining? I would def wait and go again at 6 weeks or so. Should see something then!!
