Question

Pregnant after loss? Or HCG still high?

I had a loss almost 6 weeks ago on December 30th. I was 6 weeks, 2 days at the time. I didn't require a D&C.

Last week I just had a feeling I should take another pregnancy test. It was positive. I called my doctor and went in last Wednesday. They did a urine test (positive) and did an ultrasound, which showed no leftover tissue from the MC. No blood test was given. I was just told that it may take a while for my HCG levels to return to a low enough level to NOT turn a test positive.

On Saturday, I began bleeding heavily. I have been bleeding heavily since then-- but yet, I'm still turning tests positive. I've been testing every day since my appointment because my doctor told me that the tests should be getting lighter. With the onset of bleeding, I was sure this would be the case. But it isn't. These tests aren't squinters, either. They're legitimate lines on FRERs and Wondfos.

Do I assume my HCG is still high from my loss? Or demand a blood test to rule out pregnancy?

it does sound like you have some residue tissue left.

Get a blood test, you could have ovulated again and could possibly be pregnant again.

If I were you, i would request a blood test. When I had a miscarriage around 7 weeks, my doctor had me give blood once a week so she could monitor my HCG levels and make sure they were dropping.
