Ovulated late?

So, my last period was Dec. 20 (or at least I think it was my period). It was my first in 20 months. I should have ovulated around Jan. 3. However, yesterday (day 24 of my cycle) I had liquid and somewhat stretchy cervical mucus. Today I felt some sharp gripping pain near my left hip bone. Is it possible to ovulate on day 24? Does this type of CM show up after fertilization?
