Dear Estie, as several have already told you - the progesterone only means you ovulated and your corpus luteum produces progesterone as it should. It does not say anything about pregnancy. You may be you may be not.
In my pregnancies I always had progesterone of between 9 and 15 at 14dpo, and I still was pregnant (had to supplement though). Your numbers show a good healthy corpus luteum and mean that if you did get pregnant the lining is good quality.
Considering that you only had sex from well after the ovulation the chances are not extremely high that you did manage to get pregnant this cycle. If you did, wait until 13-14dpo to test, then you know for sure, 8-9dpo are too early in many cases to register HCG.
If it does not work this cycle make sure you start earlier with bd to increase your chances next time. GL.

I did have sex on ovulation day

as i wrote before, and annabelle i believe, it is the sperm that is supposed to be there and wait for the egg - not the other way around. the sperm needs 8 hours to travel up to the ovaries, and eggs sometimes only survive 12 hours. so if you ovulate in the morning and have sex in the afternoon it may be far too late for them to meet. the sperm survives for 3 days so one should have sex earlier in the cycle to make sure it is already there when the egg is released.
do you track your ovulation with opk, to know exactly when you ovulate?
since you want a baby so badly and go through so much stress each month i really would go to a reproductologist/fertility specialist to get a professional opinion. maybe a couple of rounds of clomid (very cheap) would speed things up. i do know several women over 40 who got pregnant, including myself, but they all had help or at least doctoral advice.
