Anyone use opks to verify pregnancy before a positive hpt?

I tested with an opk at 5dpo, it wasn't positive but looked quite dark. Should I test everyday to see if it gets darker or lighter before testing with a hpt? I don't want to use my hpt before 12dpo.

you could, but some people (me for example) do have a small LH surge before the period so the opk tests won't be 100% reliable even if they do get darker. they do not distinguish between LH and HCG

why not buy some internet dip strips? they are awful cheap and quite reliable and you can test every day
