Question

positive hpt at 6dpo?! how?! help!!!

okay so on october 24, 2016 I started my period and it lasts 5 days so on the 29th i ended. this is the first month my husband and i tried to have a baby, and well, it's positive! but here's my question. the day my period ended which was the 29th of october we had relations, we also had relations the followng few weeks which was the 4th, 5th, 7th, 8th, 9th, and 11th of november. i tracked my ovulation everyday with 2 seperate tests since the 4th of nov. and kept getting negative until the 10th of nov.. however the test i took says that when it's positve that means i should ovulate within the next 24-48 hours, (keeping in mind all the days we did it and how long sperm can live inside the vagina.) anyways, to be more accurate i put i ovulated 48 hours after that positive which was the 12th of november. sure enough the day after the 12th i took another ovulation test and it was negative which means ovulation completed. on the 17th (6dpo)and every day after i tested positive on hpt. how?!

I wouldn't stress so much on the hows and rejoice in the BFP. Could be you ov earlier than you thought...even with tests nothing is 100%. I have heard of people getting pos on opk when they are pregnant...you could have already been pregnant. I dont use opk, but know how they are supposed to work. Have you taken another pregnancy test? I would take another pt and just be happy its pos:) Good Luck

Yes, I've taken 3 preg tests everyday since I got that first pos at 6dpo and everyday the lines get darker, I'm definitely pregnant (: I've used two separate branded tests, clearblue plus and first response. I wanted to know to see how far along I would be. Should I just go based off of the first day of my last period than?

pregnancy is always counted from lmp, all doctors will do that anyway

It's very rare but implantation can happen as early as 4 DPO. Usually it is 6 DPO or later, but 4dpo is possible just very rare. Also you could have ovulated earlier than that said that 24 hours that you estimated. You could have been ovulating at the time of getting the positive test you could have had sperm waiting for the egg immediately fertilized and begin its journey. Like I said it is possible to get a positive at 6dpo but I would estimate you were more like 7 or 8. Congratulations

The doctors will go off of your LMP until they do a dating ultrasound. That will give you a better idea of exactly when and how far along, just know that when you get your initial due date, that it could change a little later on.
