Low HCG - irregular periods - tests getting slightly darker every 2 days / chemical pregnancy?

Hi everyone
I've been off the pill for 2 months and in early October I believe was my first normal period. This was the 5th October, I don't have any idea of my cycle length at the moment so it's been hard to determine how late my period is. I did ovulation testing and and peaked on 26th October, and felt myself ovulate the next day.

I got my first very faint positive at 14dpo and gradually darker ones at 15dpo and 17dpo (today) has been the darkest.

Went to the doctor and said based on my cycle I would be 5 weeks. Had a blood test at 15dpo and results came back as HCG level of 36....

Question is - am I earlier than I/the doctor thought or am I heading for a chemical pregnancy or miscarriage?

I'm going to test with another blood test tomorrow.
