Question

If you have brown discharge, no red, the first day of your periid, do you count that as cycle day 1?

The first day i had dark brown dc but no red, then full red the 2nd day. Which should be cd 1? Also what does the dark brown mean..ive never had that beforehand i dont think

Don't worry so much about colour, flow is what defines a period. If the brown was a flow and not a spotting or lighter than spotting, then it's cd1, if the red was the flow, then it's cd1. My 1st day is always a super dark red, sometimes almost brown looking, but it's a flow that requires a pad/tampon. Brown is normal, it's just older blood. U may have a thicker lining this time or one that's shedding at a slower than normal (for u) rate. I wouldn't stress it.

Thank you that makes sense. It was enough for a pad so that'll be my day 1.

I was told by my RE that even just spotting (brown or red) is counted as cd1 even if it starts at 11pm. That day is still cd1. Hope this helps:)
