how long should I wait to test?

I went on vacation to the Bahamas the end of last month to the very beginning of this month. I was just coming off my period the day before we left. We had two flights then the cruise. I know stress like that can delay ovulation and or period, so my question is, is how long should I wait to test after my period has been late?
