Question

Need help! Multiple miscarriages

I just had my second miscarriage this year and I'm only 26. No children. My doctor ran progesterone and TSH tests but so far it looks normal. I meet with her this week to discuss the next steps. I'm glad I found a doctor that doesn't want me to wait until a 3rd mc to take action. Any advice on what to ask for? Anyone have a similar situation and get prescribed clomid or other fertility aids that worked? It's devastating to not be able to keep a pregnancy. My husband and I desperately want a baby. Thank you in advance.

Did your doctor run an recurrent pregnancy loss panel? If s/he hasn't it should be done after 2 miscarriages. I couldn't get a doctor to take me seriously and run an RPL panel till my 4th miscarriage and it turns out that I have homozygous MTHFR, elevated ANA, low progesterone, high TSH and antiphopholipid syndrome. Any one of those things alone could cause a miscarriage and together they can absolutely cause miscarriages.

Don't make the mistake I did and not advocate for yourself till you've had more losses. Advocate for yourself now. If everything comes back normal at least you'll know and it will be a weight off your mind. And if something is wrong your doctor can start treating it and hopefully get you your rainbow baby.

I'm so sorry for your losses. Lots of hugs.

Thank you so much for sharing Were you able to treat them and have a healthy pregnancy? I just had my second miscarriage last week and so far my TSH is normal and my progesterone is still pending. By Monday I expect my doctor will call me to discuss the results. I'm definitely going to ask for more testing. I just want answers. I'm sure you know all too well how that feels. :/ thank you again for your response.

I'm under the care of a reproductive endocrinologist now and he has me on some anticoagulants (lovenox and baby aspirin) for APS and elevated ANA. And then I made the switch from folic acid to folate and all the stuff that goes with working with the MTHFR mutation. And I'm taking Clomid now to hopefully bring up my progesterone. My t3 and t4 were OK for now so my RE wanted to hold on off synthroid but said I'd almost certainly need it by my next TSH check. So we're watching that.

So I am getting some treatment that will hopefully put me on the path to a rainbow baby. I had my 5th loss last cycle before start Clomid and no successful pregnancy yet. I'm in the TWW at the moment and really hoping that maybe I'll get my BFP for my take-home baby soon. My RE seems to think I have decent odds now that I'm being treated.

I definitely know what you mean about just wanting answers. I told my husband I wasn't going to keep TTC without answers. It's hard. I'm sorry. :(

So sorry for your losses. Definitely push for tests being run! I've had three miscarriages and am currently being treated by an RE on my first cycle of clomid. I've seen doctor after Doctor and it took me probably three before I finally found one willing to run tests. She found that I have antiphospholipid antibody syndrome. She then referred me to a high risk Doctor who told me I was fine and wouldn't do anything then when I went back to the doctor who did all the testing she referred me to the RE. He did more testing and found that my DH is fine so it's just me that's the problem. So now I'm on my first clomid cycle and will have my trigger shot (hopefully) later this week. He has me in baby aspirin because he said he didn't recommend any stronger blood thinner for now. I will also be doing progesterone after O. Keep asking for testing and if your Doctor won't, find one that will! No baby yet for us, but I think we are at least making some progress! Good luck!

I found a good doctor willing to test. I have been tested for cystic fibrosis, prolactin, progesterone, and TSH. My progesterone was a little low so next time I get a positive I'll be put on supplements. Everything else is normal. She referred me to the infertility clinic and they ordered an HSG. We will see from there.
