Question

Cervical position, early pregnancy?

Hey ladies! Does anybody check their cervical position throughout their cycle? Im 15DPO had BFN today but my cervix is soft and easy to reach, usually high and hard. (I am a Midwife so i know what im looking for) just wondered if anybody else is in the same boat! Im thinking ??early pregnancy sign. AF due in 3 days.

Cervical position is not at all a reliable indicator of pregnancy. Typically during pregnancy the cervix will *eventually* become high, soft and closed. For some ladies this happens early on around the time they'd get a positive test. But for many other ladies this won't happen till 6 or 7 weeks: well after you'd be able to test positive.

I know during my pregnancies (all ending in loss for whatever that is worth) my cervix was always either high, firm, closed or high, soft, closed. With my pregnancy that made it to 6w4d it was high, firm, closed till around the 6 week mark when it became soft. But I know plenty of other ladies who got positive tests with low cervical positive, or medium or whatever else.

Hopefully it being different than what is normal for you is a good sign!

I checked my cervical position with two of my pregnancies (one ended in mc) and also the months I was trying and found that the position really wasn't a good indicator. It made no difference to whether I was pregnant or due my period and also depended on the time of day I checked. My cervix was usually hard in the morning or when I had a full bladder
