Do yoy go by dpo or days before period for testing?

Hi, so according to my opk I ovulated on the 11th of 12th of this month, but I have started my period on the 30th of the last 3 months so technically I'm 7 days from my period today. Should I be testing by dpo (I'm either 11 or 12 dpo) or should I be going by how many days away I am from my period? I've gotten negative so far, but if I go by days from missed period then I'm 2 days early (today) for a first response 6 days sooner.

U always test by dpo, if u know it. Days from period varies with each woman and sometimes each cycle. My 7 days from af is about 10dpo, whereas for another woman, could only be 5dpo, which is wayyy too early.
