44 yrs old and in need of advice..

hello im 44 yrs old, me and husband are trying to have a baby, this will be my last year of trying afraid im getting to old. my question is..
on March 24th thru march 27th I had my last full period
on April 8th 2016 we tried again. the following morning when i went to bathroom i had some left over from him come out. didnt read to much in to, figure ok it diffenlty was in there.
few weeks went by April 24th thru 26th period never came. on the 27th i had spotting it was very day kinda stinky looking and had mucus jelly type texture. only spotted for 3 hours give or take and then everything stopped. taken a few pt all comeback neg. is it to early to test or maybe im not pregnant..or is there something else i should be looking at with my age that can cause this. only thing has changed between April and now..is im more tired and im eating sweets and spicey food.. other then that threes nothing else..really need advice on this for next step to take or look at..
