Question

I had a -OPK at 9am, + at 11am and - at 2pm. Is this possible?

My previous LH surges lasted at least 24 hours. Is it possible to have very short ones?

It is possible, absolutely. However, I've found that my LH surge normally lasts about 24 hours and when I get a surge that short it's never "real." Typically when I have a positive that only lasts a few hours before it's clearly very negative again it was a mini LH surge that was just enough to cause a positive and then my body will "try again" in a week or so.

If you're temping to confirm ovulation you should see a temp rise within the next couple of days if that brief positive was "real."
