Starting injectables, how many monitoring appts should I budget for?
So I am planning on a BFN this cycle. Next cycle I will do femara with injecables. My Femara only cycle I had 4 ultrasounds and two or three lab draws. Does anyone know how many appointments I should expect with this combo? Trying to figure out if I need to save or make my student loan payment. :(

With injectables you should probably plan on between 6-8 ultrasounds and blood draws. Injectable dosing doesn't stay constant. The dose is based off how your body responds so it requires a lot more monitoring. Most of the time ultrasounds and bloodwork are done in the morning and then the office contacts you in the afternoon with your dose instructions for that night. I had to take a lot of time off of work for appts, draws and to be home to sign for medication that was shipped overnight and had to be immediately refrigerated. If you don't have the ability to get time off of work you may want to wait. I had 28 days of paid sick time stored up and blew through 22 days of that over 4 iui rounds in 1 year. I tried to take partial or half days off of work most of the time so those 22 days was really more like 40 days of missing at least some work.

My advice with injections: be very clear with your fertility doctor how many babies you want. We took a gamble with injections and had 4 mature follicles. After 2 years of infertility, including 5 cycles with femara, taken orally, we conceived quads with gonal f injections and IUI. All 4 follicles fertilized and stuck. The risk factors are real, and injections are a potent next step, so it's very important to be monitored closely to see if any new follicles pop up before intercourse or IUI. Best of luck.
