Period really early and long? What is going on?

Background:
I still breastfeed my 2 year old. I got my period back at 18 months postpartum, in October. My cycle has been around 35 days, with my period lasting 4 days since then and fairly regular. We are trying for another.

This month my period showed up around a week early. I'm on day 7 now and it is not showing any signs of stopping. I even passed a small clot this morning. Nothing alarming, just a lot for something that normally is over by now. I'm also still crampy.

Any idea what is happening here?
