Question

Trying to conceive since July 2015

Hi ladies. I've been trying to conceive since July last year and had a miscarriage in Oct. I'm currently using fertility monitors, taking my BBT, checking my cervix and drinking fertility tea. I went to see my Dr today as I am gaining weight and I'm actually trying to lose it, so she's testing for thyroid problems. She said unfortunately being overweight can also affect fertility. Wondering if anyone else has had thyroid problems in the past and if this affected their fertility? Really on a mission now to lose weight as I'm 41 and running out of time to conceive.

I have thyroid issues that have caused multiple losses in the last 2 years. I had to have it removed a year ago due to hashimotos and a multi nodular goiter. If your levels are not perfect then it will cause problems with fertility. My doctor says a TSH level around 1 is ideal. I would definitely get the thyroid taken care of immediately as it may take a while to get the medication just right. I had a hypothyroid which caused weight gain, dry skin, extreme fatigue, hair changes and just being overall sluggish. Wishing you the best of luck!
