Question

Desperately need answers about endometriosis

So on Feb 3-- I went in for a usual laproscopy with dye test to see if everything was open. Anyways a short easy surgery turned into a hour n half... my OB surgeon found endometriosis on my uterus & ovary...and then get this my appendix was laying on my ovary which was infected also !! So anyways they took care of all the endo they could find & also removed my appendix. So my question is hubby & I have been trying for almost 2 years (he's been tested & his swimmers are great) is this endometriosis the reason we weren't getting pregnant? ? Are my chances of conceiving greater now that I'm "cleaned out"
Thanks & baby dust to all. I can't wait to start trying again....my OB is confident we can get pregnant I just wanted real life answers from friends that have been through this...God Bless

Here are some studies and articles on fertility and Endometriosis. Hopefully some of it is helpful to you. The TL;DR on it is that Endometriosis, depending on severity, can greatly impact fertility. Conception rates following a lap are better than without a lap. For some unknown reason that needs further reserach the conception rates of patients with Endo during IUI and IVF cycles are noticeably lower than normal.

Taken from AmericanPregnancy.org:
"Endometriosis can cause infertility in many women, but with proactive treatment, the possibility of pregnancy is increased. Discuss treatment options with your doctor to decide what would be the best course to take to increase your chances of pregnancy."

Hi, since you already have 4 children I wouldn't worry too much. Women who have bad endometriosis struggle to conceive and carry a child to term. That is obviously not a problem for you based on your history. I am sure the surgery you have had should improve your chances now. Good luck and baby dust!

"Infertility patients with untreated mild endometriosis conceive on their own at a rate of 2% to 4.5% per month, compared to a 15% to 20% monthly fertility rate in normal couples. Infertility patients with moderate and severe endometriosis have monthly pregnancy rates of less than 2%. Even though endometriosis is associated strongly with infertility, not all women who have endometriosis are infertile." - ASRM booklet. I probably have severe endometriosis and I have serious barriers to conceiving. I don't have any children. We've been trying for 5 years and need donor egg IVF.

5 years TTC. Endometriosis and adenomyosis. Surgery. 2 IVFs. No joy. Low ovarian reserve. Is there any real hope? DE IVF = next step. Much higher success rates, but so used to things not working, it's hard to feel too hopeful. Wishing others an easier time.
