Question

Has anyone else recently quit smoking who is TTC? Advice/morale support

Hello ladies!
I am currently TTC #1. DH and I got pregnant about 2 years ago while I was on birth control. Sadly I miscarried at about 8 weeks.(I quti the day I found out but picked back up after due to all the stress) We are now actively trying for our first and I have been a smoker for about 4 years. I have been trying to quit. I have myself down to less than 5 per day and I'm feeling pretty good. I want a baby more than anything and don't want to do anything that could harm my baby or chances of concieving. Any ladies have smilar experiences? How did you finally kick the habit? Aand do you feel like it messed with your timing or ability to concive? Thanks!

I was only able to stop once i found out i was prgnant and sickness kicked in i couldnt smoke with out puking im thankful for that as i dont no how i would have, i think you should be really proud of your self for cutting down to only 5 thats amazing, the way i think of it dont worry the withdrawel stress can actually be worse and look at all the people who smoke and drink before they even know there pregnant and go on to have healthy babies,

Hi I'm not a smoker but my mum and step dad both smoked for years. My mum used tablets from the doctor to give up entirely as they kind of removed the withdrawal. This was when I fell pregnant with my first so about 5 years ago, so it may be worth asking your doctor about that possibility. My step dad stopped a year later using nicotine patches. My auntie also stopped using them. She was hospitalised due to an obstructed colon and pancrititis so couldn't get out of her hospital bed for 7 weeks so she was given nicotine patches whist in hospital and they helped her.
My stepdad also attended the stop smoking clinic at our gps so it may be worth looking into that

I just went through this. I had my wife ration my cigarettes to me so that I only had a set amount per day. It was important for me to know that they were available if i ran out though. Otherwise, it would stress me out which isn't good either. Being accountable to her helped me say no more often. I realized I was putting her future child in jeopardy as well. So it made me think twice before asking for an extra cigarette.

I cut out one every few days until I was down to one per day. At that point, I realized it was addicted to the rituals/habits and not the nicotine. So, I switched to candy cigarettes and pretzel sticks. That way I can go through the motions of smoking without actually smoking. I still go outside so I don't miss out on that either. I've been smoke free for a week and a half and don't have any desire to smoke anymore.

Even with all of that, I wasn't able to quit until the day before my iui. Good Luck! It's not easy but it'll be worth it!!!
