The casing slows down the evapping speed. Dipstrip tests start drying out shortly after 10 mins (small wick directly exposed to air), larger tests in casings take hours. Taking them out of the case early on can cause them to evap faster and someone to mistake that evap for a positive (becuz they're used to it taking 12+ hrs to evap normally). Air won't change the actual result, if it's positive it's positive, but it can speed up evaporation and cause someone to believe they have a positive when they don't.

I agree with Dakotaguurl not because I know all the facts of how and why but it makes sense. I have my self taken those exact test apart and gotten and pretty little pink line only to be super disappointed when the ugly witch showed her face right on time! I just now leave it in the case if I don't see e line then I count it as a negative we tend to look into it too hard and if it was a positive in the first place we would see it. Or later test again and it would then be darker. I know it's so hard but so true. And we all are victims of this horrible two week wait and it makes us do crazy things
