Clear blue ovulation tests how do they work?

Just wondering about the clear blue ovulation tests the ones that have a smiley face if your ovulating. Do they show the day you ovulate or a day before ?

12-24 hours before, that's when the LH surges (it first surges, and then the egg is released)

U surge 12-48hrs before an attempted ovulation (24-36hrs is avg). This is only a guideline for time, u can O before, after, or not at all, with any surge. U can also O without ever having a positive opk. The tests just indicate the surge in hormone, not the when/if the egg released. Generally, women go with the day after the positive test as O day. Consider temping if u want a more exact date/confirmation.
