Question

Can Clomid cause extremely short periods?

LMP Nov. 12, 2015. Started my first cycle of Cloid at 50mg days 5-9. Ovulated on CD 17-18 but normally I ovulate on CD15. AF expected CD28 (Dec. 10) and came like clockwork however; AF only lasted 12 hours! I first noticed bright red blood when going to the bathroom around 10:30AM on Dec. 10 so used a regular tampon until about 5:00PM. When I changed tampons I noticed that it wasn't very saturated at all, just enough to warrant wearing something although it looked light enough that a pantyliner would suffice. Nonetheless we were going to a holiday party and I thought my period would continue to get heavier as it normally does. When we got home that night I removed my tampon and it was even less saturated than before. Usually day 1 is relatively light (but not this light), days 2-3 are my heavy days but regular tampons are still sufficient (just change them more frequently), and day 4-5 is very light with day 5 being mostly spotting and no tampon needed. Is Clomid causing these changes?

U sure that was af? Ur cycle length should lengthen if u O later, clomid tends to add a day or two to ur luteal length (dpo) as well. So if u O'd two days later than ur norm, then ur af should be due cd30 or later.
Clomid can thin the uterine lining, which can lighten/shorten af, but that happens more with high doses. 50mg is a starting dose, so I wouldn't attribute light flow to the drug. Take a test, I don't think af's what that was. Implantation bleeding is a possibility as well. It's not common but does happen.
Good luck! =))

Thanks for your answer and advice! I took a HPT FRER and it was negative which I sort of expected as I have my normal AF symptoms but I guess you really never know until you test! Seeing my dr Monday morning before I start my 2nd round.

I have always ovulated on my own but he prescribed Clomid to help me produce a super egg. I could feel a huge difference and have no doubt I O'd. But, I think my issue has always been implantation whether due to thin lining or not enough progesterone to sustain pregnancy. Whatever it maybe I'm ready for answers and hopefully a solution so we can get our BFP!

Again, thank you for the input!

clomid interferes with the formation of uterine lining, you get much less of it when on clomid, so clearly you bleed much less
