Question

Anyone have tips to ease morning sickness

So I'm 7 weeks tomorrow and for the last week I have had the worse nausea day and night , I haven't actually been sick/wreched but I have no appetite and feel like I have to force my meals, feel constantly sick , unable to eat full meals even a tin of soup is to much , when normally I can't stop eating haha I'm currently living of soup / ice cream and toast and crackers I don't fancy anything else and thinking when does this end :( does anyone have any tips , foods to add to my shopping list that are easy to eat and might help ease the sickness I was thinking of replacing meals with homemade smoothies but for actual food I'm clueless

Many of the women here are still TTC#1 and as such have never been pregnant. I'm not sure how helpful many of us can really be, as much as we'd like to help. I suggest you try countdownMYpregnancy.com the sister site for pregnant ladies. Thebump.com also has a nice first trimester board along with bump month boards (BMB) which would be all ladies expecting the same month you are. Any of those would be great resources for advice and support through your pregnancy.

Studies show ginger capsules work better than placebo. Same with vitamin b6. You could try one (or both) of those.

Wishing you a happy and healthy 9 months!

Hi there, the first 13 weeks can be really tough with constant morning sickness. I think it should be called morning, noon and night sickness. The things that I found worked for me was to eat little and often (I know it's hard then you feel unwell) but I found the emptier my stomach was the worst my morning sickness became. I would have crackers by my bed and would eat one before getting up. For some reason I only wanted really bland foods like toast but had a craving for oranges and mandarins. I also used travel sickness wrist bands and found they worked for me. I also used a ginger travel sickness tablet and they worked. Hopefully the morning sickness will pass soon but just be guided by what you can eat and try and drink plenty of water so you don't get dehydrated (and it helps with constipation) but smoothies might be a good way to get more nutrients. As namelessaria said there is a good site countdownmypregnancy and you might get some good tips from others in the same boat

I run out of characters in my other answer but I wanted to say congratulations on your pregnancy and all the best for the rest of your pregnancy :-)

I also had all day nausea. I ate a lot of plain carbs like bagels, mashed potatoes, plain pasta, mac and cheese, pancakes, pretzels, etc. Smoothies are a good idea. I liked them when I had morning sickness. Anything cold seemed to go down easier. I ate lots of popsicles, cereal and milk, cold or frozen grapes and drank a lot of iced decaf coffee. Just eating very frequently helps too. Eating a nice carb heavy breakfast followed by small meals or snacks every hour or 2 all day. Sometimes you just have to force yourself to eat BEFORE you feel hungry. If you wait til you feel hungry it'll be too late and you will just feel worse or throw up. Start stashing little snacks everywhere like a squirrel lol. In the car, night stand, bathroom, purse, desk, pockets, literally everywhere! Also keep some very minty gum, hard candies or ginger candies on hand to chew or suck on between meals and snacks. I found the ginger candies in the healthy/gluten free section of my grocery store

When I was pregnant with my daughter the only food that really truly helped was--sorry to say--kidney beans. I know, sounds like the last possible food you'd want to eat. If you can force yourself, try it, even one at a time. I was shocked at the difference. So much so that I googled it, and found a few sites saying that there is something to it. Also--I found that the hungrier I got, in general, the worse my M/S got. Try to eat protein, even when you feel like only a cracker will go down. It helps a lot more. Sea bands (acupressure nausea bands) also worked for me, when I was on the subway or working and could not eat, let alone a steak or kidney beans.

Peppermint is supposed to help. I didn't get much morning sickness with my first. When I was pregnant with her when I did feel sick I ate cold stuff. I've also heard crackers and dry snacks help.

Morning sickness is quite common during pregnancy.Drink lots of water to keep yourself hydrated. Drinking peppermint tea can help. Keep some dry crackers to snack on.
