Question

Confused by ovulation test sticks

Help! I've been ttc for 2 months now and this month I seem to have had very odd opk results! I usually ovulate on day 15-16 but have been taking b6 to help lengthen luteal phase. This month I seem to have ovulated on day 12(albeit lh surge was very quick). Is it possible for b6 to work as quickly and to cause me to ovulate earlier? Any help or comments would be useful ????

YES!!!! I took B6 last month and it screwed my cycle up so bad but I have a normal cycle I have a 13 or 14 day LP so I had no business taking it and it immediately affected my cycle. I have heard a lot of good things about it for women who need to lengthen their lp. So yes it is very possible that you are going to ovulate earlier and have a longer LP good luck I hope you get your BFP

I also suggest that you start temping to. This will confirm ovulation. If your LP is shorter than 12 days then I believe the b6 is probably affecting your ovulation to come earlier. If your LP is 12 days or longer I would be careful with taking it. Like I said in my previous comment it really screwed up my cycle. I had 5 days of positive OPKs which is very abnormal for me and I had every pregnancy symptom in the book the last two weeks of my cycle. I called my doctor and he said the b6 was the culprit and to stop taking it. He said if it's not broken don't try to fix it. Lol. If it's working for you I would continue taking it and in your situation it sounds like it's really helping you.

Hi tinaweiser . Thanks for replying. I took b6 deliberately because I have had recurrent miscarriages and realised I was ovulating around day 16 of a 28 day cycle. My doctor has prescribed me progesterone supplements to take as soon as ovulation has happened. After the very quick surge the other day...I'm unsure about whether to start the progesterone yet or wait until maybe day 16 to see if there's a more definite surge then ????
I had the egg white cm(sorry for tmi) for only a couple of hours compared to other months..hence why I'm so unsure. Since ovulation (or suspected ovulation) breasts are very tender and nipple are constantly sensitive! Ouch! I agree about charting temp and I will do so next month for sure. Hanks again for your response and I hope you get your bfp very soon ???? X

I am feeling very good about this month. It sounds like you did ovulate. Sore breast usually happens after o time. I have been wondering if my progesterone levels are low because I miscarried my first pregnancy after my tubal reversal. How did u know yours was low did u have symptoms.?

Hi Tina. I have 3 kids...youngest is 9. I'm 42 and during pregnancy 2&3 I miscarried 3 times. There was never any explanation offered. Recently I have been ttc baby number 4 and again I am back to same old problem. I fall pregnant easily, I get to three days before af and start getting bfp. - have all the pregnancy symptoms...Then like clockwork, symptoms start to disappear and af appears. I've lost count of how many times this has happened ????
historically I have af that can last up to 15 days. Tests have shown no reason for this and Doctor has always rectified problem by ditting coul to correct bleeding (low dose progesterone coil). When I recently decided to ttc I knew it would follow the same pattern as before. Get pregnant, have every symptom possible, then af starts when it's supposed to after positive pregnancy test for 2-3 days before.
I've had every test in the book. Ultrasound, bloods etc.....

....and nothing has shown up. My day 21 progesterone level was 20 and 21 over two montgs(apparently showing I've ovulated) but doc thinks it's on low side of normal yet didn't offer a remedy for this. He just said keep trying because you are definitely ovulating. And yes..I am...I'm getting pregnant but unable to maintain the pregnancy each time. In terms of symptoms of low progesterone, I've had ongoing early miscarriages...long periods causing anaemia and low b12...and exhaustion! It seems to me that my problem is with implantation . I fall pregnant but the egg doesn't stick. I've read that short luteal phase doesn't give enough time for uterus to prepare womb for implantation and low progesterone(even if egg attaches) will cause miscarriage. So I've decided at 42 and with bit much time left for ttc, to take matters into my own hands. ???? I figure I have nothing to lose and after years of asking doc for help and being told unexplained infertility , ..I'm doing my own research.....,

Given history of low b12 and anaemia, I looked at my b12 treatment. Doc has me on 50mcg of b12 which makes no difference to my low b12 reserves. I've now bought 1000mcg of b12 and my energy levels are much higher. B vitamins are water soluble so my body will dispose of what I don't need. Along with this I started taking 100mcg of b6 daily to lengthen luteal phase. i was told during my third pregnancy to terminate as a result of a hugely increased Nuchal fold on baby...I didn't and now have a healthy, smart beautiful 9 year old! Doctor didn't mention to me that where there have been issues in the past in pregnancies relating to neural tube/ nuchal fold . Mothers are recommended to take not 400mcg of folic acid next time around, but 5mg! I'm now taking 5 mg. I. Order to increase blood flow to the uterus to aid implantation, I'm also taking baby aspiring 80mg.
As well as that my pregnacare vit! In short, I'm rattling with pills ???????????? but figure I have nothing to lose!

Last month, I decide to buy progest cream online(something I'd never normally do). I used it following ovulation and got my bfp. My pregnancy lasted until 4 days after af was due. Result!!! Something made that tiny bean stick and stay for longer. Progest cream is a small dose so I went to my gyn and told him I wanted progesterone supplements. He said he doesn't support this because not enough research has been done. I asked why ivf clinics across the world are using it as the first option with woman with recurring miscarriages. Haven't they done their research. He couldn't answer.Either way, as it's a naturally occurring hormone, asked him to tell me what harm it could do?He gave me a prescription for 3 months( poor man wanted peace and that was easiest way to get it ????????????
So here I am testing opk so that I can use progesterone supplement immediately aft ovulation...and opk's are going crazy ???? If we can evidence recurring miscarriage what's to lose by trying progesterone?
