Question

Has anyone ovulated on 5mg Femara but not 2.5mg?

So we are trying for our last child. Two of our children were concieved on Clomid. This time Clomid did nothing at the highest dosage. My OB finally admitted I had PCOS and put me on 2.5mg Femara. Had my scan yesterday and he said there were more but still too small. He didn't tell me how big they were just that I probably wouldn't O this time. He also said my lining was thin. He is willing to go one more round with a higher dosage then will send me to a RE if we wish to continue the process. I am just curious if the 5mg has worked when 2.5mg Femara didn't.

YES!
Wow, my story is very similar to yours. I was on 2.5 femara CD 3-7 for last cycle + hcg trigger, had a really thin lining at U/S follow up, and then ended up on estradiol (vaginal) suppositories for the rest of the month. Not fun.

This cycle, I was increased by my reproductive endocrinologist to 5 mg femara CD 5-9, had the HCG trigger, and have had a much better experience. With the femara increase, I had symptoms that I can only imagine are what menopause must be like (super emotional - angry/sad/weepy/giggly, hot flashes). Femara takes two days to clear from your system, so by day 11 I was ready to make up with hubby. :) PS - Lining was more than adequate this month, too.

I was devastated when I was told last month that I "had a thin lining" -- this was a whole new problem thrown my way. I decided I needed to do something different...I also tried acupuncture weekly and stumbled on the book WomanCode. Not a paid advertisement, just my 2 cents. :) Good luck to you

PS - yes, on the 5mg Femara ovulated x2, confirmed on ultrasound day 13... measured 18mm and 21mm.
I'm 10 DPO, so idk if I'm pregnant or not. Fingers crossed! I feel like maybe I am.
Lining went from <6 on first cycle to >8 on second cycle... I don't think femara does anything with endometrium, though... I chalk that up to the acupuncture, improved diet, and self-care.

Thank you for your response. It gives me a little hope. The way my OB made it sound was that I was done. I called and asked what my measurements were. I had 7 folicles measuring from 5mm-6mm and my endometrium was <6. I think we are going to take a break with the holidays and everything. I am hoping to get back into my workout routine and eat better..... I really slipped after my MC in June.

Any more responses good or bad is much appreciated.

:( I'm sorry about your loss. I don't know what else to say except that for me, losing our twins has been something we carry with us... All the time. It transformed our lives - some ways made us more kind and patient, some ways it made us more sad and darker. I am a PA and, despite my familiarity with healthcare, am shocked at how terrible the TTC after loss experience has been. Find a reproductive endocrinologist you like, that spends time with you, that will give you his/her phone number and email address. I don't mess around with docs that won't validate my feelings/worries/intuitions. As soon as I start feeling like a number or a chart, I call them on it. Family - and that includes creating a family - is the most important work of our lives. You, your eggs, everything --deserves to be treated as precious cargo :) this is all about you, so make sure they're clear on that. Keep in touch!
