Question

1) Does ewcm indicate ovulation reliabley? 2) Duration to ovulation after mc: trend data?

Hi everyone,

I would be interested to see:

(1) if any studies exist that show trends of time till ovulation per week of pregnancy before a miscarriage. Do any of you know of such info out there?

I realise that there are many assumption that this would make, such as how far along you were, what your hcg levels had been, whether you ovulate consistently, length of cycle.

I have just had an mc. I was between 5 to 6 weeks and a week later my pregnancy tests report BFN (not pregnant anymore) so I guess my hcg is now back down. I just wondered when to time sex as my fertility tracker (myDays app) records bleeding but not sure if it adjusts other factors like cycle length etc given I had what would look like an extremely long one with no period.

Therefore, how reliable is excm to indicate ovulation? I know I could temp or use opk's but wanted to know other options as well.

Thanks for any input.

CM has always been a good indicator for me in regards to the ovulation time frame. But this is truly a personal experience. Many can't rely on CM that much. Best is to use OPKs together with CM observation. BBT charting on top of it will let you know if and when you ovulated. Best wishes.

A rule of thumb that works for many is to definitely bd when EWCM is present regardless of OPK test results.

EWCM is a great indicator or ovulation for me. But everyone is different. Some people get multiple days of fertile CM before and/or after ovulation. Some people never get EWCM and only have watery CM around ovulation. Everyone is different and so what you can expect from your body is different.

The only way to confirm ovulation is by temping. After ovulation you'll have a sustained thermal shift that should last until AF. If you should become pregnant the thermal shift will last throughout your pregnancy.

As to your question: my doctor told me to expect to ovulate 2-6 weeks after my MC. I had a natural MC at 6w4d. I ovulated 13 days later before my hCG had even finished falling. I've seen other women say they didn't ovulate for 25 days or so after. Everyone's body is different but I think 2-6 weeks after an early MC is the normal range.
