Question

What days work best when taking clomid?

I was wondering what days clomid should be taken for "best" results? 3-7 or 5-9? I've previously taken clomid on days 5-9 with varying results I'm just wondering what the different start days meant and when I should start. Thanks in advance

Hi, I was asked to take it from day 2 or day 3 for 5 consequtive days. Doc said it didn't matter much between the two which day I started on. I haven't heard of starting on day 5 before. What did your doc say? You should follow that advice as it could be tailored to suit your situation and specific health conditions. Good luck and baby dust to you!

Thank you for your response @Anastasia999 This is exactly the reply I was hoping to get! I was initially put on clomid over 4 years ago so I don't remember as to why my prescription stated to take it on days 5-9. My Dr. never really explained it to me either, just told me to follow the instructions written in the pamphlet. But you're right, it's probably written that way based on my health conditions and conception methods. For two years I was monitored on clomid with bloodwork and a few ultrasounds. The beginning of this year I was put back on clomid after taking some time off of it but was told to take it how I did previously and no monitoring would be done. I wanted to add that I read taking it earlier in your cycle produces more eggs whereas taking it on days 5-9 produces fewer eggs but more mature and that days 5-9 are prescribed for women who normally ovulate on their own but have unexplained fertility issues. I dunno how true it is. Thank you again! GL and baby dust to you too!

Hi Shammy, good to hear back from you! Not sure regarding whether there is any relation to whether you ovulate on your own or not, to the days you take the tablets, I think it just has to do with the protocol your doc follows. Personally I have had very regular periods in the past, but over the last year a bit irregular periods ( 28- 35 days mostly but I missed one period and also had one cycle with 49 days). I get positive ovulation tests and periods 14 days post the positive ovulation test but no baby till date. I was told I probably ovulate but not sufficiently to cause the necessary changes in the body such as rise in progesterone which is necessary to sustain a pregnancy. The doctor is expecting clomid to cause a natural increase in my progesterone levels by inducing a stronger ovulation. I have not been put on any progesterone pills. Let's see how it goes. Today is 10 dpo and I am keeping my fingers crossed! GL and baby dust to you!
