Question

Losing weight struggle wanting ttc

Currently I am trying to lose weight so my husband and I can ttc. I am at my highest weight and know it's unhealthy to try right now. I'm over 300 pounds and about to be 30 in 5 months. I have a Mc in 2012 :( at 15 wks. I don't want that to happen to me again. What do you think would be an ideal weight to start ttc? I also have pcos and am taking bc. Plus if you have any dieting tips as well, I'd appreciate it. Thank you ladies, baby dust to all TTC

Hi Christine, really sorry to hear about your loss. Unfortunately these things some times do happen and you must not blame yourself, weight or otherwise. Also while 300 pounds does sound a lil bit on the higher side it really depends on your height and how much over bmi you are? There are online calculators available which can help you calculate if you know your height. To lose weight, I would suggest a few things which I am trying to follow myself, such as portion control, small frequent healthy meals, lots of water, no caffeine(tea or coffee), avoiding any sweets or fruit juices. Also try to get in some regular exercise, you can start by doing a brisk walk and once you feel a bit more fit maybe try some aerobics? There are lots of online videos, I really like Jillian Michaels, 30 day shred and also 6 pack in six weeks. I am no where close to a six pack but at least there is some good body toning happening. Good luck and wish you all the very best in your weightloss and ttc journey!

Hey forgot to mention, if you use the bmi calculator it will tell you the ideal weight range for your height. There will be a range depending on your body frame. Also with pcos it can be a challenge to lose weight, though with controlling carb intake you should be able to see some improvement. Also it is worth cooking meals from scratch and avoiding processed food. This way you will know exactly what goes in to your meals and you can control oil, fat, sugar and salt. Soups are also a good way to lose weight. But make them rather than use the supermarket ones. I am currently 9 pounds over bmi and trying my best to get within the range. I was 18 pounds over initially but following all these tips I have managed to get it down. So I am sure you will see results soon. Just be prepared to be patient, weightloss doesn't happen overnight! Good luck! :)

I was overweight when I got pregnant with my daughter (250 lbs) and ended up losing weight while pregnant with her due to morning sickness and more importantly, gestational diabetes. When I was diagnosed with GD, I essentially went on the Atkins diet to control my blood sugar. Because I didn't go full no carb, and my blood sugar spiked with any pasta, I would always make myself go out and walk, even if just around the block, to keep my blood sugar in check. I left the hospital 30 lbs lighter than when I got pregnant, so I kept up the diet after the fact and it really helped. I don't necessarily believe in eliminating all carbs, but agree with Anastasia that eliminating a lot of the processed and prepackaged foods helps a lot. My weight has crept back up over the years so I have started cooking more at home with fresh ingredients to try and get some of the extra weight off before I get pregnant.

My husband lost 125lbs and I lost 35lbs and we both are at the weight we should be based on height BMI etc. we've kept it off because of our diet. The easy solution is not probably the most desirable solution, but it's a garuntee of success, eating well. We cut out all packaged, processed, canned, artificially colored, favored, chemical stuffed, frozen meals and fast food. All of those cause or are linked to inflammation, cancer, insulin resistance..etc. we eat fruits, veggies, nuts, seeds, legumes, beans, and grains. At first it was difficult, because all those foods that are not natural are HIGHLY addictive, so really eating healthy isn't difficult at all, it's cutting the addiction. Sugar (refined and artificial) is ten times more addictive than cocaine, it's hidden in things you'd never know and hides behind over 50 names. We eat wholesome and nutrient dense foods, and has impacted our health tremendously! I'm incredibly sedentary and just eating well I keep the weight off! GL!

Hi! It sounds like we are in similar situations. I'm using MyfitnessPal and sticking to about 5000kj a day (about half my recommended energy). Wanna be weight loss buddies?
