Question

scared of starting Ivf, feeling angry with other people getting pregnant around me! Is this normal??

Me and my partner are both fine. Had hycosy scan and tubes are fine so just waiting for appointment to start treatment. Everyone at work knows what I'm going through but recently someone at work has become pregnant and it feels like it's all being rubbed in my face, constantly putting stuff on Facebook and talking about it at work, I know she's happy but I feel she is being a little inconsiderate. Does anyone else feel the same way or am I being selfish?

You will go through a lot of emotions when ttc over a long period of time, especially with ivf. It's a major rollercoaster! I finally had my daughter after 6 ivf rounds. It sucked watching friends and coworkers get pregnant so easily. One of my coworkers had 3 babies in the time I was going through treatment! Ugh! I tended to feel best when I was starting a cycle. I felt hopeful, excited but maybe a bit anxious. It definitely helped to be actively doing something to try to have a baby. In between cycles I just felt stir crazy, jealous of pregnant ppl, hopeless, stressed and sad/depressed over failed cycles or miscarriages. The whole range of emotions and mood swings are totally normal and to be expected. You can ask women at work to try their best not to discuss their pregnancy in front of you. Most ppl are pretty understanding. It will still be hard to see their growing bellies everyday though. Sometimes I had to take mini breaks from facebook too. Don't feel selfish!

That's so good to hear, I just needed someone to talk to who's knows what I'm going through. How long did your Ivf process take as I'm just waiting for an appointment and everything is just taking so long, what's your reason for Ivf if u don't mind me asking? It's seems a scary process!

I had to wait about 3 months for a consult appt and then I was able to start the next cycle with an iui (I did 4 of those before moving to ivf) and then when I decided to do ivf it was another 3 month wait to go through all the testing and preparation, get our payment together, for the doctors to create a plan and get all the medications ordered. Be prepared for lots of waiting and possible delays. Sometimes cycles just don't work out and need to be cancelled. Altogether from 1st RE appt to baby it was 3 years. My case isn't very typical though. Most couples have success in 3 cycles or less of ivf...not 6. We had major issues! My dh has a very low sperm count, I have pcos and don't ovulate on my own most of the time, I had a uterine polyp that I had surgery to remove, I have an over active immune system that was attacking the embryos because it thought they were foreign, and I have a blood clotting disorder which was affecting blood supply to the embryo after implantation.

And yes, it was scary at first! All the appts, egg retrieval surgery, transfers, injections and medications can sound overwhelming. But I promise you will get the hang of it pretty quick! I felt like a pro in about a week. You never know how strong you can be until you are forced to be and you will be surprised what you can do that you weren't sure you could. I never knew I could shove an inch and 1/2 needle in my own tushy but lo and behold I did it and it wasn't bad at all Lol! I recommend buying or printing a large calendar to keep track of everything...what meds and injections to do each day, what days you have to have blood draws or ultrasounds, a countdown to egg retrieval day, etc.

Oh god it's sounds like you been through it all! I had a hycosy scan last month after waiting 6 months and that's all normal so they don't know why it's not happening so they just suggested to start treatment straight away but in the mean time the scan I had was like a flush through so he reckons it could just happen naturally now so that's what I'm hoping for. I'm getting it through the nhs as I don't have any children from past relationships. Otherwise money would of been an issue!
