It depends on how soon you're talking here. If you have sex while af is still visiting on one of your longer cycles then you should not get pregnant (but don't quote me on that!) but given how short your cycles can be, I'd say use protection continually if you want to avoid pregnancy. However if you want to get pregnant then having frequent sex between the end of your period and ovulation would be a fantastic idea. Based on a 20 day cycle you could be ovulating around cycle day 6. This would mean your fertile window largely overlaps with your period. Id suggest buying a bunch of opks online and using those to find the optimal time for conception each cycle, because it seems to vary quite a bit for you. All the best.
