I think they usually say start testing around 7-10 days after your cycle begins if you have no clue when you ovulate. I usually start on day 10 because I typically ovulate on day 12.

What type of OPK do you use? I heard with Clear blue they want you to start testing so that the monitor is able to adapt and recognize when you hormones are low or peaked.

Hi! I would start right at day 7 with Wondfo OPK's- they are cheap (Amazon) and you can see the progression of the line... Some ladies O around day 10-11 so you don't want to miss it- but you won't feel bad either if it takes you 18 days as the wondfo's are cheap and come in a big bag! Best wishes
