I extended breastfed, so AF always returned before weaning, but I found that my period changed after both pregnancies and established a new normal.

thanks Paperheart! that's good to know.. maybe its possible that I actually haven't O'd yet, but at 26 DPO that seems slightly unlikely, especially after the 4 days of mild cramping

I should add that my husband and I are TTC and have been BD every other day at minimum this entire month after my period ended.

I have long cycles too. 31-35 days.
I have to tell you I didn't ovulate my first two periods after (finally) getting my period back from #2. I know because I finally had ovulation 'signs' mid cycle this month. I didn't have any the months before. so many signs and symptoms that DH thought i was pregnant (we are not TCC at the moment)
my point is, you may not have ovulated and still had your period. AND you could have ovulated crazy early or crazy late. Periods are all over the place (For me) after taking forever to return (9months with first and 10 months with second). I do have to say that my cycle length never changed more than a day or so. But i am already inconsistent. 31-35 days usually hitting the 32-33 day mark. So my cycle would have had to change by several days for me to notice a NEW normal. I guess what I am saying is, the ovulation is likely to be screwy but in my experience the cycle length doesnt vary too much. hope that helps!
