Are my chances only 20-25%?
So around 10:45 PM on August 23rd my on and off again boyfriend and I had sex. We didn't use condoms (I know, bad idea) and he ended up ejaculating in me because he didn't pull out in time. It all came out of me pretty fast, but I know millions of sperm cells are released during each ejaculation and even if the semen comes out a lot of the sperm stays in. I took an ovulation test on the 24th (well 4 of them between 7pm and midnight) and they all came back positive. I took another one on the 25th around 7:30 PM and it was negative. I have very regular periods now that I lost over 100 pounds (I used to struggle with PCOS and no periods). I'm assuming that since it was positive on the 24th and negative on the 25th that my egg was released sometime between those hours. If he ejaculated in me around 45 hours before I ovulated, could I have a high chance of getting pregnant? I read somewhere that healthy couples only have a 20-25% chance each month to get pregnant. Does this mean my chances

if your OPK was positive on the 24th then you probably didn't O until about the 26th or so (those tests detect the hormone that sets off the release of the egg which usually takes a day or two after you get a positive) so the sperm would be about 2-3 days old by then, there is definitely still a change you could get pregnant from that, since they can live up to 5 days but id definitely say its a lower chance, typically the best time to have sex If youre TTC would be within 24 hours AFTER you get that positive OPK..

Since opk's detect your LH surge, you can ovulate any where from 12 - 36 hrs after getting a positive opk. As stated by another member sperm can live for several days in your cervix, so the few days prior to ovulation are considered prime days when ttc, so there is a chance you caught the egg. Good luck hon, I hope this turns out the way you want it to.

The surge means the initial time the test turns out positive. For me, I get a positive result a few days in a row. BUt from what I have read, its the day you receive the first positive result that indicates ovulation is 24-36 hours away. so you may have missed the initial surge form not testing. YOu could have tested positive (like me) for 3 days in a row, and already have ovulated well before having sex. there's just no way to know.
So I guess I'm saying you proabbly don't have a higher chance.. but who knows! good luck.
