Question

IVF questions!?

I'm 26 and my DH is 42. We have had 2 unsuccessful medicated IUIs. I'm healthy and have no issues but my DH has low count at 5 million, 90% vitality and 80% moving. How much success will we have with IVF? Should we go with ICSI?
Also I am a professional ballet dancer and my question is would I have to take the whole month off from exercise?

My dh had a count of 6 million with low motility as well, only 27% moving. I also have pcos and during ivf treatment found out I have immune and clotting issues. We had 3 retrievals and used icsi each time with about a 90-100% fertilization rate. His swimmers did a great job with help from icsi! It took us 6 transfers to get our daughter but that was due to issues with me. I got pregnant on 4 of the 6 ivf rounds but had trouble carrying which led to the first 3 ending in miscarriages. Since you don't have any fertility issues

...hopefully it won't take nearly that many tries. Most women I have talked to who went through ivf had success on the first or second try. I also was a dancer growing up, not professionally, but I do like to take classes still. During my successful ivf cycle I was doing intense power yoga classes several times a week before and during treatment but I stopped after the embryo transfer for a week. After a retrieval surgery you will want to give your body a bit of rest. You will be sore and if your ovaries get too large you run the risk of them twisting during heavy exercise which could require surgery.

Thank you so much for your advice. I don't seem to have any health issues, so hopefully it will work the first or second time,

You definitely have a good chance :) I'm 30 and DH is 45 and he had a vasectomy reversal and I'm currently pregnant from our our 1st ivf cycle. We did icsi as well. They tell u not to exercise for 2 weeks. And u won't want to bc u will have lots of cramping going on from the retrieval. But after tht u will b gd to go :) gd luck!
