Question

Can low testosterone in women cause problems with TTC?

I had labs done. All seem ok except my testosterone is on the low side. Testosterone, total, LCMs/ms/ms 3 ( range says 2-45) free testosterone 0.3 (range says 0.1-6.4)

Also as weird as it sounds would low testosterone effect my chances of having a boy?

My GYN says low testosterone can effect my energy levels but not fertility does this sound correct? My Drs great but she's a GYN not an OB plus everyone is different.

There is an ongoing debate in the reproductive endocrinology field about the role of male hormones in female fertility. Studies suggest that male hormones (androgens) help drive the development of follicles. Many IVF clinics prescribe testosterone patches or the over -the -counter supplement DHEA to certain patients to increase the number of eggs during IVF. This is especially recommended for women in their 40s and those with diminished ovarian reserve. Discuss your test results again with your dr or even better with a reproductive endocrinologist to see if these supplements would be helpful to you. I myself am taking 75 mg micronized DHEA daily as I am over 40 and this was recommended to me by a well-known specialist. Best wishes.
