Question

INFO NEEDED...

Hi ladies.well im 2nd cycle after HSG and will be starting my ovulation induction journey next month. My infertility doctor recommends follicle tracking along with medication. It wont be clomid as I have a clotting disorder but a medication that does the same job. I am a long time endo sufferer and have every type of treatment for that..(to no avail)
Anywho I really don't know what to expect from ovulation induction or follicle tracking so any info you ladies may have would be really appreciated..Thanks in advance xxx

There are two types of drugs used for follicle stimulation, a pill like clomid but there are other brands or an injectable drug. The pills you take for just a couple days and then you go in afterwards for one or more ultrasounds and bloodwork to check to see if you have mature egg follicles or not and how close they are to releasing. The injections you start and take the whole time while going in for ultrasounds and bloodwork. Once they see that you have one or more mature follicles they will either tell you to have intercourse for a few days or give you a trigger shot which triggers the follicles to release in the next 24-36 hours give or take. It's a pretty painless process physically but it can be a lot of trips to the doctors office or blood draw lab with little notice. Hopefully you have a flexible schedule and can get out of work easily if needed.

Aww thanks so much for the info..I have no problem getting to hospital appointments so thats good...I have no health insurance so costs are going through the roof at the moment but i know the results will be priceless..have you any idea on average how many cycles people normally try before moving to IUI? I just want to give us the best possible chance and IUI is not much more expensive than induction and tracking scans.where im attending anyway.
Any experience with this?? Xx

I did 6 rounds of clomid at my regular ob and 1 round of clomid with ultrasound monitoring at my fertility clinic before moving on to iui. You are only supposed to do 6 months of clomid in a row but my clinic wanted to try it 1 more time with monitoring just to see. So exceeding the clomid limit kind of made the decision for me to move on to iui, plus my hubby has a very low sperm count and clomid doesn't do anything to help with his issues. If it doesn't cost much more to do iui you might as well do it since you are paying for the ultrasounds and everything anyways and it will increase your chances of conceiving. I definitely understand about sky rocketing costs! We finally conceived through ivf which wasn't covered by insurance at all but almost $30,000 later I am holding a baby and she was worth every penny, every doctors appt and every pill, injection and blood draw!
