Question

How long is the luteal phase?

I started my cycle on July 8th but didn't ovulate until cd 20. This is late for me and now I don't know when to test for pregnancy. Im due to start my period on the 7th of August (5 days from now) but since I ovulated late should my period come late? Also, I've had spotting since 4 dpo and it's been going on for 4 days. I'm freaking out and I've taken 3pregnancy tests already which were all neg.

The luteal phase varies from woman to woman. I do start late if I ov late, but that may not be the case for every woman or every cycle. Ideally, you want a luteal phase of 14 days as that gives your body opportunity to create a thick lining good for implantation. A shorter lp can hinder proper implantation, but can often be treated with a progesterone supplement. Around 9 dpo will be your first reasonable early chance at a bfp, but you're never out until AF shows!
