Why am I still bleeding??

My period usually comes on the 3rd of each month but this month on the 20th I spotted for two days then my period came on it was way heavier than usual. It's now the 29th and I'm still bleeding but it's fairly light not heavy. Why am I still bleeding?? I had a test done a week ago to see if my uterus and all was working and looked normal the doctor said it was normal so that's not the problem! Can anyone help me understand what's going on??!!
