spotting mid cycle??

My last cycle was July 7th. yesterday I had a little brown spotting and today I have more. My husband and I can't conceive naturally so we don't use protection. I took a pregnancy test for shits and giggles this morning but it was negative. Any reason why I would randomly have spotting? I had spotting with my pregnancy but it was after a confirmed pregnancy has anyone had implantation bleeding and not had a positive test right away?

If it was IB it won't show in a hpt right away u have to wait 2/3 days
