Question

CM question ... dry or not dry?

I'm 34 and suffer with hypothyroidism. The effects of this cause my hair and skin to be very dry as well as assist in irregular, heavy periods with difficult ovulation tracking. In addition to this, my CM is kinda all
over the place (not literally). sometimes I get a week of EW, C cm other times nothing at all, I'm quite dry really. My Dr says it doesn't mean I haven't necessarily NOT ovulated but I just wondered if anyone else has experienced droughts (lol sorry could t help it!) and still conceived?

I try to use sperm friendly gel but it doesn't always make an appearance when you're 'busy'

TIA xxx :)

I have hypothyroidism too but I can't say how much it affected my CM. For the 3 years I was TTC, my CM was all over the place. I generally had it each month but the timing, consistency, amount, etc. all varied. The month I conceived I had one day of it basically and had no fertile CM at the time of conception (well none that was apparent to me). I tried PreSeed, taking guaifenesin (the active ingredient in Robitussin), and using Evening Primrose Oil (EPO) to boost CM to make it as "friendly as possible." If you find yourself dry most months, especially around ovulation, I would consider maybe the guaifenesin or EPO. The EPO didn't do much for me but I did notice more CM when I took guaifenesin. You can find that in generic form at your local grocery and also online.

I have hypo too. haven't had a problem with not making ANY cm, but some months I don't make as much ewcm as other months. This last cycle I only had 1 day of ewcm, sometimes I have 4 days of ewcm. I didn't know hypo had anything to do with cm though. hmm. Learn something new every day

Try licorice root - it helps the immune system, endocrine system and thyroid system. It should help to balance estrogen and progesterone and increase cervical mucous. You can buy it as a herbal tea. DO research it thoroughly because there are some drugs you shouldn't take it with.

5 years TTC. Endometriosis and adenomyosis. Surgery. 2 IVFs. No joy. Low ovarian reserve. Is there any real hope? DE IVF = next step. Much higher success rates, but so used to things not working, it's hard to feel too hopeful. Wishing others an easier time.
