LH surge post-miscarriage, pre-AF: try or not to try?
I'm really just trying to think through next steps after a miscarriage.
Background: Unassisted pregnancy, miscarriage at 8 weeks, embryo stopped developing at 5-6 weeks, used cytotec after 2 weeks of waiting to complete MC, HCG finally under 5 week of 4/13, hormonal ovarian cysts discovered same week and no apparent ovarian activity. Started having watery vaginal discharge which changed a bit today so I decided to use an OPK, mostly to try and predict when I might get my period, hoping it would work out that upcoming business travel wouldn't interfere with starting IVF. Positive OPK.
At my age, 50% chance that egg will be chromosomally deficient. Also, thinking that would like to have 2 kids. As fertility doc said, if miscarry it is 4 months of time ... and I don't have that much time. I forgot to add that I had an ectopic pregnancy prior to this pregnancy.
So, do I go for it and try and get pregnant unassisted, or go forward with IVF?

Addl info: 41, no kids, fibroids, 2 hysteroscopic surgeries - 1st to remove intrauterine fibroid, 2nd for scarring issues.
Pros of IVF include choosing better quality eggs and sperm, possibility of additional embryos to freeze for second child, maybe piece of mind that might be able to have a second (assuming that have safe, healthy pregnancy). Cons of IVF include co$t, juggling work/life with injections & procedures, maybe need more than one round.

Did you have your amh tested? Did you have an antral follicle count? Both tests help determine your ovarian reserve and therefore egg quality. It also helps determine approx. how many eggs you might be able to get ready during the stim phase of IVF. Statistics say you should have at least 15 eggs for best success. Don't count on having extra embryos for freezing. This is always the hope but most often in the 40+ age group you won't get a lot of high quality embryos that are suitable for freezing. A friend of mine age 36 just became pregnant after her second round of IVF. 7 eggs were harvested, 3 fertilized, 3 embryos were transferred, I pregnancy/singleton. No embryos for freezing. This is just to show how few viable embryos often are obtained during IVF. I did IVF 3 times at age 36 and all failed for unknown reasons. Due to relatively low success rated for IVF at your age consider doing a few FSH stim cycles with trigger shot and IUI. Best wishes.
