What is going on with my pregnancy tests and the hcg trigger shot?
I did an injection of the hcg trigger shot on Sunday night April 12. It was followed by an iui on Monday the 13 and Tuesday the 14. I ovulated on the 14th. I took a pregnancy test on the following Monday April 20th, it was positive. The next day the tests were negative. I figured that the tests I took on Monday were picking up the remnants of the hcg shot. So, on Thursday April 23 I took two more pregnancy tests and they were both positive. They were very faint lines. Then today, Friday April 24 I again took two more tests but they were negative?! I am so confused and feeling quite discouraged. Could this still be the trigger shot?

That is very odd. Make a call to your specialist or your OB/Gyn (whoever is treating you) and let them know what is going on. They may want you to come in and draw blood to check your HCG levels. Very odd that is happening. Are you taking all with FMU? And are they the same brand tests?

What was your trigger shot? Hcg basically has a half life of 27 hours, meaning every 27 hours, the amount in your system is halved. Ovidrel 250mg (about 6,700IU) takes approximately 11.25 days to metabolize to levels lower than the most sensitive hpts.
Also, the dilution of your urine, the concentration of dye in the hpt, the threshhold of the hpt all play a factor in when/if you get a positive.

Thank you for responding to my question. I took the lowest does of the trigger shot. I have taken all different brands of pregnancy tests..... I just left a message with my doctors office. I go in on wed the 29 th for a blood test. It's just sooooooo hard to wait until then and not do any hpt myself.
