25 years old and high FSH on day 2 blood test? 12.41 IU/L! Help!
I got my blood results back from my doctor for the day 2 blood test, and my FSH was 12.41 (it's says normal for follicular phase is 3.5-12.5) it's quite high, I am only 25 years old. Does this mean I have lower fertility and not many eggs left? Or worse quality eggs? My LH was normal at 6.85 IU/L (normal for follicular phase is 2.4-12.6) and my progesterone later that month was good also. I ovulated on CD 18 that month. I am doing testing for infertility because of my Husband he has low sperm count and low motility. With progressive motility at 10% and 15 million swimmers. I will be doing an HSG on Monday and I am very nervous and scared about it as my husband won't be able to come with me. The doctor suggested we start IUI with clomid/or other drug if my HSG shows that tubes are not blocked. I'm a bit scared, I'm only 25 about to turn 26, and my DH is 41 (but he looks and behaves like a 30 year old, lucky genetics I know). We don't want to wait too much longer, what are suggestions?

The good news is that despite this relatively high FSH for your age, your genetic material/eggs are young. For that very reason your chances to become pregnant are still very good. More mature women with high FSH will have much lower quality eggs with a lesser chance for success. Def get your amh tested. This will be a better indicator for ovarian reserve than FSH test results. After getting all the results together you and your dr can make a plan taking the sperm quality issues into account. If your tubes are open stim cycles with IUI are a good start. If no success IVF is probably your best option. Best to you.
