Question

Is a drop in HCG levels in early pregnancy normal at all?

Today I would be 4 weeks. My blood test had me at 3 hcg. I had an extremely faint positive yesterday but a negative today both morning urine. My doctor told me to come back in in a week for another blood test if I don't bleed. Has any other woman had a drop then carried a baby? This is my first pregnancy ever.

Dropping HCG levels in early pregnancy are not normal. With a healthy pregnancy they will approximately double every 48 hours. You are possibly dealing with a chemical pregnancy. Best wishes.

Hello, congratulations on you BFP. I can only tell you bout my experience, last year I had a faint positive , then a negative test. So I assume that was a chemical pregnancy for me which are very common. I hope for you this is not the case. It's not a nice thing to go through after you get excited about a pregnancy test. Good luck and I hope it goes well.

An hcg below 5 is considered negative. You likely experienced a chemical, where an embryo attempted to implant, started to produce low levels of hcg which you detected on an hpt, but for whatever reason implantation did not complete.
