Red period only lasted a couple hours?

I woke up in the middle of the night to light bleeding.. but it was red so I figured I had started two days early. I put in a tampon go back to sleep and later that morning I change it and see that it'd filled up the whole regular tampon. All bright red, no clots or anything. I put a new one in and... thats it. When I change the second tampon its almost all white, with just a few spots of red and brown. Cervix check came back clean. I usually bled 5-6 days. Whats going on?!
